Since gaining a Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology) from Curtin University of Technology, Melanie has worked overseas and locally to provide assessment and treatment for adults and children within hospitals, private practices and homes. In her years of practice, Melanie has gained extensive experience in her key areas of interest, which include neurodegenerative disease management, stroke rehabilitation, geriatric care, cancer rehabilitation and early and school-aged developmental speech and language.
Melanie enjoys working within the community and this continues to form her experience and current research knowledge in the areas of adult swallowing disorders, adult acquired speech and language disorders, as well as paediatric speech and language delay and disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Apart from her love for travelling and discovering new cultures, Melanie loves collaborating with families and caregivers and getting to know them personally. Melanie is especially interested in empowering families and carers at home or in institutions to facilitate therapy progress while making it her goal to enhance her clients' quality of life. She is also a strong believer of helping children and adults receive therapy as early as possible, to enable them to become confident members of their homes and communities.
Melanie is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia.
