Kristl is the director and principal speech pathologist at South Metro Speech Pathology. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Human Communication Science) from Curtin University of Technology in 2004 and obtained her Masters in Communication Disorders from Macquarie University in 2012. After working overseas for the last 10 years, she’s recently returned to Perth and taken up the role of managing South Metro Speech Pathology, leading the recent developments of the clinic.
As the principal adult and paediatric speech pathologist, Kristl brings to the clinic 11 years of experience in the areas of paediatric language, paediatric and adult stuttering and adult swallowing disorders, including videofluoroscopy (VFSS) and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES). Amongst her skills, Kristl has a keen interest in swallow rehabilitation, specific language impairment in school-aged children and stuttering in adults and children. She also oversaw the set up of the first telehealth service for delivering stuttering treatment in the Singapore public health system. Having worked extensively in multicultural and multilingual settings, Kristl has a keen interest in the area of bilingualism. She has conducted research examining narratives in bilingual children and has been involved in looking at the outcome of stuttering treatment and the manifestation of anxiety across languages in bilingual speakers who stutter.
In her years of clinical practice, Kristl has given multiple forums and presentations to the public and healthcare professions as part of raising awareness in speech pathology needs across paediatric and adult populations. Kristl has also spent the last 10 years mentoring and supervising both adult and paediatric speech pathologists and continues to give back to the profession in this way today.

Practice Manager, Adult & Paediatric Speech Pathologist
Since gaining a Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology) from Curtin University of Technology, Melanie has worked overseas and locally to provide assessment and treatment for adults and children within hospitals, private practices and homes. In her years of practice, Melanie has gained extensive experience in her key areas of interest, which include neurodegenerative disease management, stroke rehabilitation, geriatric care, cancer rehabilitation and early and school-aged developmental speech and language.
Melanie enjoys working within the community and this continues to form her experience and current research knowledge in the areas of adult swallowing disorders, adult acquired speech and language disorders, as well as paediatric speech and language delay and disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Apart from her love for travelling and discovering new cultures, Melanie loves collaborating with families and caregivers and getting to know them personally. Melanie is especially interested in empowering families and carers at home or in institutions to facilitate therapy progress while making it her goal to enhance her clients' quality of life. She is also a strong believer of helping children and adults receive therapy as early as possible, to enable them to become confident members of their homes and communities.

Alicia obtained her Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology) from Curtin University and has worked extensively to provide speech pathology services for children in both the private and public sectors. Alicia enjoys working with children in all areas of speech and language and has experience in working among the early childhood, pre-primary, and school-age populations, including children with disabilities. With her active involvement in child-related services beyond South Metro Speech Pathology, Alicia continues to build on her experience through ongoing professional development. As a trusted paediatric speech pathologist, Alicia is committed to ensuring that her clients receive evidence-based therapy most suited to their needs.
Alicia is particularly interested in early speech and language development, and strongly believes in the importance of early intervention. In fact, she thrives on seeing her clients make improvements - great or small. Above all, Alicia makes it a personal goal to see her clients reach their full potential.
Apart from being a lover of the great outdoors, Alicia thoroughly enjoys working collaboratively with parents and teachers to help her clients achieve their therapy goals. Alicia’s clients often look forward to her sessions as they are always a good balance of work and interactive fun. This is a result of Alicia’s philosophy that play is the most valuable tool to enhance a child’s learning and development.

Paediatric Speech Pathologist
Kirasha Ramlagan is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with the Dietitians Association of Australia and has a Master of Science in Dietetics. With over 5 years of international dietetic work experience Kirasha has worked in a range of settings including public tertiary hospitals, private hospitals, governmental organisations and universities. Kirasha currently works as a senior dietitian and clinical dietitian at two leading private hospitals in Perth.
